DADA 2019
Inspiration for for this collection cones from Dadaism. It was the movement that questioned the aesthetics of art. It was dramatic and shocking. Unusual things were put together, provocative and abstract. Artist’s rejected the logic. Sometimes there was no reason behind the way of doing things. Meaninglessness.
I have used different materials all together, mixed different textures and fabric types.
The collection's main idea was to recycle old denim and use different challenging materials together. The collection consists of skirts, dresses, trousers and one jumpsuit that are all made from used jeans. It also includes two hand-knitted sweaters, polyvinyl is used in tandem with other materials.
The symbol of the collection is a clown. Coulrophobia, or an irrational fear of clowns is a quite common issue, but the purpose of this collection is to also show the traditional, peace-loving and jolly heritage of clown culture. Models look similar to clowns and despite somewhat sinister appearance, they are meant to be perceived as jolly and not scary.
NEXT EXIT 2016
The collection Next Exit is inspired by street art. The main fabric used for the collection is a white cotton suiting fabric that is used as the base for the hand-painted prints used in the collection. All materials are industry leftovers. All garments in the collection are hand-painted one-of-a-kind items. The collection was sponsored by Skizze Kauplus.
